Admission Requirements
Thank you for your interest in our LPN program.
Applicants wishing to apply for admission to Americare Institute's Practical Nursing Program must complete the four general admissions requirements.
1. Pass the entrance exam.
The entrance exam assesses your academic readiness for the practical nursing program. It's consisted of four sections: math, reading, science, and english. The exam is 4-hour long. Review sessions are available.
Reserve your seat and register for the next entrance exam now.
2. Complete a CNA Training Program.
Applicants must be certified by IDPH and names must be active on the nurse's aide worker registry.
Go to the Illinois Department of Public Health website to determine your status or register for our CNA Training Program.
3. Complete four required pre-requisite courses.
Applicants are required to complete four general education courses. These courses are offered at the Schaumburg campus. Classes take place twice a week for 8 weeks.
- Introduction to Psychology
- College Algebra,
- English 101
- Introduction to Computers
Applicants may complete any of these courses from accredited institutions. Americare Institute accepts transfer of credits not only from accredited U.S institutions but also from foreign universities.

4. Put down a deposit.
Applicants approved for student financial aid are NOT required to put down a deposit.
Americare Institute admissions and enrollment policies conform strictly to the guidelines of the Illinois statutes, 105 ILCS 425 section 425/15.1.
Americare Institute's admission and enrollment process assure the existence of a clear written record of the contractual agreement made between the prospective student and Americare Institute.
