Student Spotlight
Leah Neal
Looking back on her childhood, Leah Neal always knew that she wanted to become a nurse. She exhibited all the attributes of an ideal nurse such as patience, compassion, and integrity. A few years ago, Leah and a friend were talking and the topic of nursing was discussed. Her friend told her about a nearby nursing school that she should look into. Leah was thrilled with the idea of starting her voyage into the healthcare field. Attending Americare Institute would be her first step towards her goal.
It was Leah’s lifelong passion that drove her to succeed while attending Americare, as well as her mother, grandmother, and son Caleb’s support. She mentioned that Caleb, who is nine years old, will study with her. “He gets his homework and studies with me when I have reading for a class or a test coming up. He is so understanding and supportive; he’s like my own personal cheerleader.” She said that nursing has been a lot of hard work, but she has really enjoyed it and she is looking forward to starting her career in the very near future.
Leah hopes that after she graduates from Americare she will continue on with her education and receive her Masters as a Nurse Practitioner. She also declared that she would “love to come back and get my R.N. from Americare too.” According to Leah, her experience at this school has been great. “I have enjoyed learning about nursing but more importantly, I have enjoyed the students. Everyone is so willing to help one another and we have learned a lot from each other.” Like many other students, her favorite class has been Med Surg. “Not only was Priscilla an excellent teacher but it was the class where you got to put everything you have learned together.”
