Pre-requisite Requirements

Applicants wishing to apply for admission are required to successfully complete four general education courses. Americare accepts transfer credits from accredited U.S institutions as well as foreign institutions. MATH (College Algebra)

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive background of mathematical applications in the field of Nursing. Students will acquire and develop mathematical skills commonly applied in the care and treatment of patients.

Transfer Equivalent:

College-Level Algebra

Placement Exam
Applicants wishing to test out of math are encouraged to take a placement exam.  For more information about the exam including how to schedule for the exam, please contact our testing coordinator.

 PSYCHOLOGY (Introduction to Psychology)
This course provides an introduction to basic knowledge of psychological behavioral patterns to assist the practical nurse in meeting the emotional needs of the client. It discusses the meaning and development of self-concept over the lifespan. It aims to provide the student with an understanding of acute and chronic mental illnesses in order to promote safe, therapeutic and effective care of people.

Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Psychology Across Life Span
 

ENGLISH 101
This course primarily teaches students how to write effectively in a corporate setting. Students will learn how to proof and revise writing, write business letters with proper formatting, and recognize formal and informal language.

Transfer Equivalent:
English Composition 100

Placement Exam
Applicants are not able to test out of English

CIS 100: Computer Fundamentals
This course introduces students to computer concepts including hardware, application software, operating systems and the internet. Students will gain hands-on experience in basic troubleshooting, maintenance and upgrading their own personal computers. They will also achieve proficiency in using popular office applications as well as the internet for research and work-related assignments.

Introduction to Computers

Computer Proficiency

Applicants are eligible to test out of computer by taking the computer proficiency exam.  Note there is a $50 fee to take the exam.  For more information about the exam including how to schedule for the exam, please contact our testing coordinator.
